The Last Thing the World Needs is Another Digital Marketing Agency.
In Bucks County (where I live) I can could between two hands, several times, the number of “leading” and “#1” Digital Marketing Agencies there are.
Their mission is clear.
“We will get you ranked on Google.”
“We will grow your Facebook Page”
To all of which, I exclaim a resounding BULLSHIT.
To them, the focus is on vanity.
When in reality, the focus should be on your business. And most importantly, growing your business.
Now, to be clear, I at one time was lumped in with the SEO/Facebook/PPC/Whatever other acronym was created whirlwind.
But the one thing that kept coming up was “Shawn, we hired XYZ Agency* and our business didn’t grow. We’d rank on Google, post on Facebook, yadda yadda… But nothin’ ever happened.”
That’s why I created Human Connection Marketing.
The big lie that Digital Marketing Agencies are telling themselves (and business owners) is that tactics are what win the game.
Over the past 12 years, I realized over and over that the tactic is not what wins the day.
The ability to turn on or off a system that sends people who want to buy from you is what wins.
This isn’t achieved by “Ranking on Google” or posting on your Facebook.
Human Connection Marketing is more about persuasion than it is technology.
Because in reality…
The Tech Stuff in Marketing is easy. All you have to do is know where to click.
Creating an ad that convinces someone you’re the solution to their problem is magic.
But, how does this happen?
When I began putting together the idea that eventually became Human Connection Marketing, I pondered one question over and over:
Why does it work sometimes but not for all businesses?
Then, the answer hit me like a ton of bricks.
What I realized was that Digital Marketing was bastardized as this “thing” that sat on top of “real life”.
I’d have “Shawn” that likes to listen to Pantera, drinks craft beer, and rides mountain bikes in real life**, and then “Kinda-Shawn” that still likes the same stuff, but is hanging out online now.
The reality is, that there is no such thing as “Online Behavior” or “Offline Behavior”… Only Behavior.
We as people are who we are as people.
(Traditional Digital Marketing Agencies forget this fact.)
Digital Marketing that connects with potential customers wins.
If this is done right, 85% of the “selling” is done before someone even gets in touch with you.
This puts you in a position of power.
All you have to do is make sure the price is right and that you’re able to help that customer’s specific case.
Odds are, if you’re still reading this, that means you’re liking this concept.
And I want to use the following items as proof of what I mentioned earlier about the Tech Stuff being easy.
Further, I want to expand and say that most of the “tech stuff” is unnecessary.
- This entire page is text. White background and black text. Absolutely nothing fancy going on.
- The only “techy” thing, (well, two of them), is that you’re now going to see an ad of mine when you go back to Facebook. This is an incredibly powerful and under-utilized tactic called “Retargeting” and it’s making my clients money by the wheelbarrow load***. The other is in point three…
